A museum will be established to collect and display under one roof historical and cultural artifacts of the Orkhon Valley Cultural Area and Kharkhorum, the ancient capital city of the Great Mongol Empire. It is likely to be called Kharkhorum Museum.
The Japanese Government has given USD5 million for the project and a Japanese company started the construction in June 2009. The work is likely to be completed by next July.
Several things will have to be done before the museum is opened to the public. These include arranging for the display cases and other furniture, providing electricity, planning the landscape and building 2 km of road to the central highway.
