Starting on June 16, 2009, MIAT, the Mongolian Aviation Company is to offer direct weekly Ulaanbaatar-Berlin-Ulaanbaatar flights on Tuesdays. Flights to Berlin had previously been via Moscow and these are to continue twice a week as in the past, and means the number of weekly MIAT flights to Europe has increased to three. From July 1, a Boeing-737-800 will fly to Irkutsk in Russia until the end of this summer. Throughout June, eight weekly flights are to be routed Ulaanbaatar-Seoul-Ulaanbaatar two flights on Fridays and one on the other week days.
MIAT has completed preparations for its first domestic flights on a Boeing 737-800 to Khovd and Moron. Although the Company had previously operated domestic flights, the hourly AN 26 flights have now been discontinued, as well as domestic flights being temporarily stopped since July, 2008.
Starting on June 21, domestic flights will be resumed and there will be twice weekly flights to Khovd and, to Moron, four times per week. These measures will provide favorable conditions for tourists and rural citizens to fly in comfort. |
